OVERVIEW
AAMC Foundation’s Engagement Program for International Curators (EPIC) currently seeking applications from both UK based curators (UK Awardees) and US-based curators (US Liaisons) interested in being paired for a year-long partnership (February – December 2020) dedicated to professional development and exchange.
 

  • Curators interested in applying to be an UK Awardee can be working in any field of focus, but must live and work in the United Kingdom. Curators without existing strong ties to US partners and the overall larger international curatorial network are the ideal candidate(s) for this program.   • Curators interested in applying to be an US Liaison can be working in any field of focus, but must live and work in the United States. Curators without existing strong ties to UK partners and the overall larger international curatorial network are the ideal candidate(s) for this program. 

Overall, applications from curators without access travel funding or professional development support are particularly encouraged. Multiple curators from one museum are eligible.


The Program includes travel funding for UK Awardees, a participant stipend for US Liaisons, networking, and other benefits, which are outlined below in greater detail.
Pairings collaborate to present a webinar to the full AAMC audience on a topic relevant to their Program goals. Fellows continued program engagement extends through annual invitations to the annual AAMC Foundation Program Alumni Reception to reunite with colleagues and meet the next cycle of awardees and liaisons. Five pairings are awarded each year.

US Liaisons receive:

  • Complimentary AAMC Membership for 1 year.
  • A stipend of $500 for the commitment to and participation in the program.


UK Awardees receive:

  • Complimentary AAMC Membership for 1 year.
  • Complimentary Art Fund Curator’s Membership for 1 year. 
  • Generous travel funding in the amount of $5,235 to fulfill the following program components:     
    • Attendance at the 2020 Art Curators Conference, May 2-6, 2020 in Seattle, Washington, USA. 
    • One in-person meeting at the US Liaison’s institution, between May 7 and December 1, 2020. 

    The pairing will discuss and develop the goals submitted within the Awardee’s application. We are seeking goals that focus on overall curatorial career and professional skill development and not solely on research or a specific scholarly project. Areas of advancement could include research, project management, leadership development, cross-border exhibitions, loans, fundraising, marketing, audience development, dealer and donor relationships, and other such areas.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants must be art curators at non-profit organizations, with direct responsibility for works of art. In addition, curators and others that work a minimum of 50% of the time for/with non-profit organizations will be considered. Please note that curators working in four wall collecting and non-collecting, community based, and non-four wall organizations, are eligible.
  • All applicants must be able to commit to participating in a 12-month Program at the time of application, including the all deadlines (non-negotiable), timelines, and travel. A stipend is granted as part of this Program to accommodate the travel requirements.
  • UK AWARDEES must live and work in the United Kingdom.
  • US LIAISONS must live and work in the United States.

Applications for the AAMC Foundation International Engagement Program opens on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 and the final deadline for submitting and application is 12pm ET on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.


Please ensure you fill out all of the required questions below, which are indicated with a red asterisk. An incomplete or late submission will result in the application not being reviewed by the jurors. There are no exceptions to this rule.
